NIELIT CCC Exam: Syllabus, Pattern and How to Prepare
CCC (Course on Computer Concepts) is a basic computer literacy certificate run by NIELIT, a body under the Government of India. Many state and central government recruitments list it as a requirement or an advantage, which is why lakhs of candidates take it every year.
What the syllabus covers
The syllabus is set by NIELIT and is updated from time to time, so check the current version on the official website. In broad terms it covers:
- Introduction to computers: hardware, software, memory, input and output devices
- Operating system: Windows and a little Linux
- Word processing, spreadsheets and presentations
- Internet, the web, email and social networking
- Digital financial services: UPI, cards, AePS, USSD and net banking
- Cyber security and safe use, plus an overview of new technologies such as AI, cloud and IoT
Exam pattern
CCC is a computer-based test with multiple-choice questions. The number of questions, duration, passing marks and whether there is negative marking are published by NIELIT for each exam. Read the current details on your admit card and the NIELIT site; do not rely on old posts.
A two-week plan
- Days 1 to 3: computer basics and memory units. Learn the units by heart (bit, byte, KB, MB, GB, TB).
- Days 4 to 5: Windows shortcuts and file handling. Practise them on a real computer.
- Days 6 to 8: Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Open each one and try the menus and shortcuts you read about.
- Days 9 to 10: internet, browsers, email (To, CC, BCC), cloud storage.
- Day 11: digital payments and UPI safety.
- Day 12: cyber security and new technologies.
- Days 13 to 14: full practice tests and revision of the questions you got wrong.
Tips that help on exam day
- Questions on shortcuts and menus are easy marks. Practise them, do not just read them.
- Read every option before choosing; two options often look alike.
- Do the questions you know first, then come back to the doubtful ones.
- Carry the documents your admit card asks for and reach early.
